NC Super Majority Little Help for Election Integrity

Webmaster's Note:  The poll observer reporting system SEIRS used in Harnett and several NC Counties during the 2022 General Elections, categorized over 1000 observer incidents and through NCEIT (North Carolina Election Integrity Team) proposed over 30 changes to NC Statutes for the Legislature to enact that would improve election integrity.  The following article is from portions of a We the People email dated October 24, 2023, that reflect the disappointment that I, NCEIT and We the People have with the outcome.  The headlines cried out that the super majority Republican Legislature overturned the Governor's veto, but to what extent.  Read on.  The bold printing and coloring is mine.

...Senate Bill 747 is considered a "huge win" to

  • the incumbent legislators who benefited from this election system, thus can't fathom it's actually not reliable, (but hey, they had to do something to appease the crowd), and

  • the "Election Integrity" Activists who put their full faith and trust in the electronic voting system vendors, such as those mentioned in the aforementioned Gateway Pundit article.

This bill includes superficial fixes such as allowing observers to hear what voters are being told by elections officials, and setting a deadline of Election Day for receiving all the no-excuse absentee by mail ballots.

But for those who believe the majority of the issues are hidden from view, you know, like... the inexplicable state of our voter rolls and whether the black boxes are accurately tallying our votes, this bill is worthless...

The following text was allegedly sent by one of the Conservative Mega Donors to the legislator who will probably take on Tim Moore's House Speaker job...Anyway, the following text sums up the sorry state of Elections in North Carolina.

A Voting Analogy: When someone is diagnosed with multi modal cancer, it’s not a victory when antibiotic ointment and band-aids are applied to the chest. It might look helpful, but it’s meaningless. To claim it’s helpful, frankly, is a lie.

The cancer in our NC election system is multi-modal. I don’t see where SB747, SB749 or HB770 address any of the following critical issues. Maybe you can help me.

 1. The electronic voting systems aren’t transparent and aren’t trusted. Yet we are forced to use them. Why can’t we go back to paper and use the savings on machines to pay more human vote counters?

2. The voter rolls are littered with unverified and ineligible voters. The system still allows ballots to be cast in their names, diluting and canceling the votes of eligible voters. We must get serious about voter roll clean up.

3. Ballots can be mailed in by everyone on the voter rolls, the least secure form of voting that is outlawed in most countries. NC law allows for no excuse absentee by mail voting. Even the signature verifications can be fraudulent as you know...

 4. Not only are people allowed to vote early, which allows the election cabal to determine the vote counts ahead of Election Day, and modify their fraud accordingly, but the law still allows people to register the same day they vote. There’s no time to verify their alleged residential address before the election is certified. The ballots of unverified new voters are accepted. That must end.

5. Anyone using the name and address of anyone else on the voter rolls, can vote without showing a photo ID by filling out an exception form. Their provisional ballot can only be disapproved by a unanimous vote of the county board members. That must stop.

6. When election fraud is suspected, the NCSBE misnamed “Investigations Division” conducts the investigation, then hides the results of their “investigation” from the public...
