Voter ID in North Carolina Status

  • In 2018, North Carolina voted to pass a Constitutional Amendment to require voter ID.
    • The House then passed legislation to accommodate this vote, but Cooper vetoed it.
    • The Republican-controlled legislature then overrode the veto.
    • Despite the will of the people, Democrat special interest groups are delaying this in court, harming election security.
  • According to National Polls
    • In 2018, the Pew Research Center conducted a national poll and found Americans SUPPORT voter ID 76-23%.

  • Voter ID is popular among Democrats and Republicans nationally and here in North Carolina. There is nothing partisan about demanding election security.

  • Bottom Line: Voter ID has widespread popularity among North Carolina voters, and Democrat politicians/special interest groups are undemocratically standing in the way of the will of the people.
