Mark Johnson of Dunn, North Carolina was selected as the new 2nd District Commissioner.
Per GS 153A-27.1 A Special Executive Committee met to consider applications submitted to fill the 2nd District Commissioners seat left vacant after the passing of Commissioner Abe Elmore. After considering all applications, the Executive Committee tasked filling this vacancy held a vote on June 11, 2019 and Mark Johnson of Dunn, North Carolina was selected as the new 2nd District Commissioner.
Mr. Johnson grew up in Dunn, North Carolina graduating from Dunn High School and later attended Fayetteville Technical College. A Navy Veteran as well as a former Highway Patrolman, Mr. Johnson served as Trooper, Inspector with the N. C. Department of Motor Vehicles and lead Special Investigations at the DMV Headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina. Mr. Johnson currently serves on the Board of Directors of the General William C. Lee Memorial Commission and is the curator of the Dunn History Museum.
Mr. Johnson will be sworn in at the July 15th meeting of the Harnett County Board of Commissioners.
